By Jara Rowe, Content Marketing Specialist

Meet one of Trava's Software Engineers, David.

Meet David.

My name's David D'Apice. I'm a member of the Development/Product team here at Trava. I'm 24 years old and I live in Philadelphia.

In your words, what is your role at Trava.

I'm a part of an innovative team that I really feel is truly pushing the boundaries of technology to create a new future for cybersecurity and insurance and meshing that together.

Describe Trava in 3 words.

Great question. So I would probably say innovative, fun and caring. That's truly what I get from the company.

Where is your happy place?

I'd say my happy place is probably listening to a record in the morning and having a nice cup of coffee. Especially on the weekends, that's how I like to start my day.

If you could give your 13 year old self advice, what would it be?

It would probably be to stay learning something new every day. That's really words that I live by and something that stuck with me for a very long time, but it kept me going and kept me moving forward and moving in the right direction. So it's definitely important to me.

What is your favorite motivational quote?

So, funny enough, it actually comes from Yoda and it's,

"Do or do not. There is no try."

That's one that truly means a lot to me because it really shows commitment to a project or commitment to putting yourself full force into what you want to try to do. And that's the best way to go in and give it your best shot no matter what, always try your hardest. And if you fail, you fail. It's okay, but you always know that you did your best.

What has been your favorite project at Trava?

I would probably say the broker platform that we've worked on here. That's truly I think a great experience that not only just the product team, but it brought the entire company together a lot more. I think we spent a lot of time discussing different ideas and it really brought to light a lot of great ideas that across the entire company that we had in our heads. But we really were able to put them on paper and build something awesome with that.

Cats or dogs?

I know this one's a tough one. Definitely dogs. I have to say though, my whole life I've had dogs and I think they're a little bit friendlier. That's the way that I like it.

What are your hobbies?

I play video games, as you can see by a bunch of stuff in my background, but also really it's the most stereotypical answer, but tech stuff. I love working on different projects, just like pet projects for myself, working on different IoT things, a bunch of just nerdy stuff, but that's really what I like to do outside of work.
