My name is Pablo Tamargo and I’m a product security engineer here at Trava.
In your words, what is your role at Trava.
I help secure the product, I review any vulnerabilities that might pop up, and then I review the apps configuration just to make sure that we’re doing everything the way we should be doing. I also research and prototype potential scans and discovery service that we can use to improve our offerings to the clients.
Describe Trava in 3 words.
Welcoming, determined, and forward-thinking —for sure.
Where is your happy place?
On the couch reading a book with a cup of tea and my dog cuddled up next to me.
If you could give your 13 year old self advice, what would it be?
Failure is a fact of life and how we grow best, don’t fear or reject it.
What is your favorite motivational quote?
It’s more of a proverb, but learning is a treasure that always follows its owner.
What has been your favorite project at Trava?
All of them. If I had to pick one, I’d say the first bug ticket that was assigned to me. I learned a lot about our app and how it works, and that was probably my favorite part.
Cats or dogs?
Both, but if I had to pick one, dogs, just because they’re bigger and there’s more to pet and cuddle and play with.
What advice would you provide to someone interested in your field?
Study up on your own. It’s a role that requires a lot of motivation. You have to enjoy what you do and you have to be very passionate about security to be able to sit there and just go over boring configurations all the time. Just keep at it.
