In your words, what is your role at Trava.
40% reviewing code, 20% writing my own code, and 40% trying to figure out why code doesn't work.
Describe Trava in 3 words.
Innovative, collaborative, and fun.
Where is your happy place?
My back porch. That's where my wife and I go after we put the kids down and we can actually talk to each other.
If you could give your 13 year old self advice, what would it be?
Invest in Amazon, hit the gym, and shut off the video games.
What is your favorite motivational quote?
This has been said in different ways. I like this one.
"A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for."
What has been your favorite project at Trava?
I worked on role- based access control in Trava and that's been my favorite so far. I knew a lot about it, so it was something that I just felt confident doing and it added a lot of value to the product.
Cats or dogs?
Definitely dogs. Yeah.
What advice would you provide to someone interested in your field?
Oh, good question. I'd say for someone just getting started and interested, don't let anyone say that you can't build it or that it's too complex. I think imposter syndrome is rampant in our industry and it's not necessary. I think anyone can do this and you don't have to be a math whiz or you don't have to be a genius to figure it out. Anyone can do it.
