In this video, we speak with Ben Jacobs, VP of Engineering at Encamp, about the process of cyber risk management and how Trava helped Encamp create a comprehensive cybersecurity plan.

Encamp worked with Trava to create a draft of a baseline cyber risk assessment in an attempt to land a big contract with an enterprise client. This baseline cyber risk assessment (BCRA) did a good job of exposing some of the obvious and not-so-obvious threats facing Encamp. Even as an engineer, Ben Jacobs was surprised to hear about some of the things Trava included in their cyber risk assessment of Encamp, but that information ultimately proved to be valuable.

In fact, the honest risk assessment Trava was able to provide for Encamp was an important part of Jacobs getting an understanding of the risks facing the company. As Jacobs put it, "A part of approaching a good security posture is to be ruthlessly honest with yourself." Getting a clear picture of the potential cybersecurity risks facing your company is important, but it's not always easy to do without the help of digital risk management software or a security company like Trava.

Once you identify security deficiencies, you can decide what steps you need to take to move your company forward and make sure you have a solid cyber risk management plan in place. For companies such as Encamp, this may mean obtaining SOC 2 attestation. It all depends on the vulnerabilities your company is dealing with as well as the security needs of your company.

Getting a big-picture perspective of cybersecurity for SaaS companies helps you figure out what you need to do to move your business forward security-wise, so you can make a list and prioritize the important stuff. Trava can help you identify security issues facing your company and determine what your company needs to do in order to improve cybersecurity. A level-headed, logical approach to security is the best way to make sure you're covering all the bases.

Comprehensive cyber risk management provided by Trava can help you deal with cybersecurity issues without getting overwhelmed. With a prioritized list of vulnerabilities and risks, it's easier to decide what to focus on first.
